VST-RTAS is sweet all those col VST effects we didnt have access to within PT before. Being able to do some bussing to verbs, etc before even printing is awesome IMO. To be able to record those 32 tracks all at once, versus having to stream pairs.well, pretty easy to see the huge benefit to this! Even doing something like using Kontakt: Load a drumkit up, and with the VST-ReWire adapter, have up to 64 channels available to assign the pieces of the kit to. Imagine loading up say, the string section of an orchestra in Giga, and then using 32 seperate outputs via ReWire. As an example, the upcoming GigaStudio 3 release will have ReWire capabilities.

The biggest benefit of the VST-ReWire adapter will be for those of us desiring multiple channels of audio out of various VST instruments, which is otherwise impossible in Pro Tools. Further, even if PT did have both client and host capability, it would only be able to run as one or the other when working with another app. Every "DAW" type app I can think of work as hosr, receiving the audio from the client.

What the spec means by ".two way audio." is that any given application CAN be configured to operate as both client and host, but only one when interacting with another ReWire capable app.

However, since it exists in a client-host state, one will send, the other receive. What this means is this: The ReWire spec allows for audio to travel both ways. ReWire is audio both ways, but only ONE way at a time per instance.
